Las Vegas Lights Defender Anthony Herbert Inspires Youth at NY Empire FC ISX Media Day

NY Empire FC’s youth players received an unforgettable boost of inspiration at this year’s ISX Media Day, thanks to a special appearance from Las Vegas Lights FC defender Anthony Herbert. The professional standout—who developed through the NY Red Bulls Academy, starred at St. John’s University, played in Finland’s first division, and competed in the USL Championship with New Mexico United before joining Las Vegas—spent the day giving back to the next generation of players.

Herbert spoke to the athletes about his path through youth soccer, college, and the professional ranks, emphasizing the importance of believing in oneself and staying committed even when the journey gets difficult. His message resonated deeply with the club’s young players, many of whom share similar dreams of reaching the highest levels of the game.

After the talk, Herbert eagerly connected with the kids—signing autographs, taking pictures, and even jumping into several rounds of FIFA, much to the players’ delight. His presence added excitement to the already-anticipated Media Day and created memories the athletes won’t soon forget.

“I was once in their shoes,” Herbert said. “If my story can help even one young player keep going, then it’s worth showing up every time. These kids have so much potential, and it’s amazing to see a club like NY Empire giving them the support and environment to grow.”

NY Empire FC Director of Coaching Max Ferro, a close friend of Herbert’s, shared how meaningful the visit was for the club.

“Anthony is not just a great player—he’s a great person,” Ferro said. “Our kids look up to him, and having someone they can relate to, who has walked a similar path, makes the experience powerful. We’re grateful he took the time to inspire our players and remind them what’s possible.”
