Chasing the Dream: Special Guests Bring Pro Experience to NY Empire FC

NY Empire FC’s youth players were treated to an unforgettable experience at Practice #1, welcoming two special guests who brought inspiration, insight, and professional perspective to the field.

Joining the session was Conor McGlynn, professional midfielder for Westchester Soccer Club, and Thalia Morisi, standout player from the University of Kentucky. Both guests spent time speaking with the players about their soccer journeys, the challenges they’ve faced, and what it truly takes to compete at the next level.

A Professional Example on the Pitch

Conor McGlynn’s presence alone made an impact. A seasoned professional who has competed at a high level for many years, McGlynn shared firsthand experiences from his career—emphasizing consistency, work ethic, and resilience. His message resonated deeply with the players as he explained how daily habits and commitment away from the spotlight are what separate good players from great ones.

Adding to the excitement, Conor spoke about growing up in a soccer-driven family, including his younger brother Jack McGlynn, who currently represents the U.S. National Team and competes in Major League Soccer (MLS). For the players, hearing about that pathway—from youth soccer to the professional and international stage—made the dream feel tangible.

College Perspective and Belief in the Process

Thalia Morisi brought the college perspective, offering valuable insight into balancing academics, training, and performance at a top NCAA program. She spoke openly about her own journey, the setbacks she encountered, and how belief in the process helped her reach the Division I level. Her story reinforced that there are multiple pathways to success, all built on dedication and self-belief.

Building a Culture of Aspiration

NY Empire FC’s Director of Coaching, Max Ferro, emphasized the importance of exposing young players to role models who have walked the path they aspire to follow.

“Bringing in guests like Conor and Thalia is about showing our players what’s possible,” Ferro said. “When they hear real stories from professionals and top-level college athletes, it changes their mindset. It motivates them to train harder, to dream bigger, and to understand that their goals are achievable if they commit to the work.”

The session left a lasting impression on players and coaches alike, setting the tone for a season built on ambition, development, and belief.

NY Empire FC looks forward to continuing to create opportunities that inspire, educate, and elevate its players—both on and off the field.
