Built Different: Inside the Daily Grind at Empire Training Center

For the past two months, Empire Training Center has become one of the most active soccer development environments on Long Island.

Every day, players from clubs across the region walk through our doors with the same goal: improve.

From technical training sessions to speed, agility, and athletic development classes, the focus has remained consistent since day one—providing players with a professional environment where hard work is expected and development is earned.

"We've built a place where players can come in and get meaningful work every single day," said Director of Coaching Max Ferro. "There are no shortcuts. The players who continue to show up are seeing real progress because they're investing in themselves."

The training center's technical program is led by coaches with high-level playing and coaching experience, each bringing their own expertise to the field.

Coach Jason Alvarez has become known for his attention to detail and technical approach to player development.

"The game is built on technical quality," Alvarez said. "Every session is designed to challenge players on the ball, improve their decision-making, and help them become more confident in possession. The players who consistently attend are taking huge steps forward."

Former professional player Gustavo Fernandes leads many of the Speed & Power sessions, bringing experience from the professional game to the next generation of players.

"The difference at higher levels is often athleticism and consistency," Fernandes said. "We're helping players become faster, stronger, and more explosive while teaching them what it takes to train like serious athletes."

Technical coach Adil Gowani has also played a major role in the program's growth.

"The energy has been incredible," said Gowani. "Players from different clubs and backgrounds are coming together because they want extra work. They're pushing each other every day and creating a really competitive environment."

Goalkeeper Coach Nikki Pasquerella has seen similar commitment from the goalkeepers attending weekly sessions.

"Our goalkeepers are hungry to improve," Pasquerella said. "The extra reps, specialized training, and consistent work are making a huge difference."

While hundreds of players have participated since opening, several members have become familiar faces through their daily commitment.

Players such as Logan Palermo, Lucas Bayram, Jameson Dottin, and Pablo Nunez have embraced the culture of consistent work, regularly attending sessions and setting the standard for what it means to maximize development opportunities.

"Those players are examples of what we're trying to build," Ferro said. "They show up. They work. They want more. That's the culture."

As summer approaches, Empire Training Center is preparing for its biggest expansion yet.

An updated summer schedule featuring additional training hours, expanded class offerings, and more opportunities for players of all ages will be released soon.

Monthly memberships remain available, giving players unlimited access to one of the most comprehensive supplemental training programs in the area.

Whether the goal is improving technical ability, increasing speed and athleticism, preparing for upcoming seasons, or simply getting more touches on the ball, Empire Training Center continues to provide a home for players who are serious about their development.

The mission remains simple:

Different Environment. Different Standard.
